afb Application Services AG customers not affected by Heartbleed bug
afb confirms that all customers who have outsourced their systems to afb are secure.
Munich, April 29, 2014 - afb Application Services AG (afb), a leading specialist in the lending sector of banks and leasing companies, today announced that, thanks to a sophisticated security concept, no customer who has their infrastructure hosted by afb is affected by the OpenSSL security vulnerability "Heartbleed".
The Heartbleed bug is a security vulnerability in a program extension of OpenSSL called "Heartbeat". The vulnerability was apparently caused by a programming error. This bug can recognize, read and decrypt passwords and login information of various systems and websites. afb confirms that all customers who have outsourced their systems to afb are secure. afb nevertheless points out that other customer systems that are not hosted via afb could be affected and that appropriate measures should be taken.
Among other things, afb's Service Management is responsible for the security of data and systems. It initiates regular system updates by installing security updates, monitors availability, continuity, capacities and security and initiates any necessary measures.
